Celebrating A LIFE Online
Mom finally left us for her heavenly home on Tuesday, April 28th at 9:50 PM. She waited until Lynn and Peggy took off their PPE they had donned to sit with her, then headed home for the night. Only then she decided it was time. COVID-19 had taken her ability to speak, though she did try. But, we know she was conscious enough to hear our phone and Facetime calls, if she could not see us on the screen.
My biggest blessing was that Lynn was able to hold the phone up to Mom's ear and I could tell her how much I love her and that she would be loved and welcomed into heaven. Then, when she got agitated trying to respond, I was able to calm her by singing to her, songs that reminded her of good things in her life.
Our family could not gather for the funeral, so we held a celebration of life on Zoom, of all things. All of us were there, and it comforted us to tell Mom stories and to toast her life well lived.
I believe she is finally home. Although I was not with her in person as she transitioned to Heaven, I was in with her in spirit. Mom is no longer suffering. She finally found her way home.
What she gave me in her last years of life is a gift that I will forever cherish.
God Bless You, Mom. Until we meet again.
